"Winter Abroad at Yonsei" Orientation Held Successfully

Celebrating the 10th anniversary... More than 900 overseas university students from 31 countries participating

Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, is holding the "Winter Abroad at Yonsei (WAY)" for about three weeks from December 27 to January 16, hosting students from overseas universities.

On December 27, the "2022-2023 WAY Orientation" was held, with about 900 students from overseas universities attending. About 900 students from 129 universities in 31 countries around the world have participated in this year's WAY, breaking the record number of participants. This is a significant increase of more than 50% compared to the 2019-2020 WAY.

Starting in 2013, the WAY was Korea's first international winter school program. It marks its 10th anniversary this year. Students from overseas universities who participated in this year's WAY experience various activities while taking classes with Yonsei University students.

Participating students take high-quality lectures in various fields, such as economics and business administration, humanities and social sciences, Korean studies, and science and engineering. All classes are conducted in English. In addition, through various activities such as the DMZ tour, making royal tteokbokki, ski trips, and taekwondo, students are provided with opportunities to experience Korean culture and society and hang out with friends from all over the world.

"It seems to be lively to see the pandemic easing and students from around the countries around the world enjoying the Yonsei campus," said Professor Kim Donghun, Vice President for International Affairs, "I hope students will have a short but intense and informative experience while taking various cultural experiences and quality classes at Yonsei University."
