Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, won two awards at the "QS Asia Awards" presented by the United Kingdom's global university evaluation agency Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) in recognition of its outstanding achievements in the "research excellence" and "reputation impact" categories.

QS held the "QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2022" from November 8 to 10 in Jakarta, Indonesia. QS announced this year's "QS Asia University Rankings 2023" at this event and awarded the QS Asia Awards to universities that performed well in the evaluation. Officials from major Asian universities gathered to hold a heated debate on the theme of "The Next Big Thing: Addressing New Opportunities and Existing Challenges in APAC Higher Ed."

A total of 757 universities in Asia participated In the QS Asia University Rankings 2023, which marks its 15th anniversary this year. Based on the evaluation results, QS awarded universities with excellent performance in four categories: ▲ Research Excellence, ▲ Reputation Impact, ▲ Performance Improvement, and ▲ New Entrepreneurs.

Yonsei University ranked first among all private universities and 12th in the overall ranking in the QS Asia University Rankings 2023. In addition, Yonsei won the QS Asia Awards in two categories in recognition of its excellent performance improvement and outcome in the research excellence and reputation impact categories.

Yonsei University ranked 73rd in the QS World University Rankings in June and 78th in the THE World University Rankings in October, ranking within the top 80 in both the world's most trusted university evaluations, especially as the leading private university in Asia. In JoongAng Ilbo's Korean domestic university evaluation released on November 14, it ranked first among private universities following last year, solidifying its highest position among domestic and international private universities.

Yonsei is expected to continue to secure world-class research competitiveness by attracting the best researchers in each field, supporting life-specific research, and supporting convergence research. In particular, it plans to accelerate further to create a student-centered education and research environment through implementing the fourth stage BK21 project and to have global impact research capabilities that provide answers to global issues.
