Team "SAY!," composed of four students from the Division of Design and Art of Yonsei University Mirae Campus, received an award at the Red Dot Design Awards of Germany, one of the most prestigious design awards in the world. On July 5, 2021, Doo Jin-su (Graduate), Bae In-ho (Senior), Kim Min-woo and Han Se-gye (Juniors) won a title ‘Winner’ in the field of Concept Design for their work ‘Capsure’, an ‘air purifier suitable for medical environment.’ This is their second international title after winning the Platinum at the Spark Design Awards last December.

Germany's Red Dot Design Awards, which began in 1955, is one of the world's top three design awards along with iF of Germany and IDEA of the United States, and is the world's largest design award, with more than 5,000 works submitted for competition from more than 50 countries every year. Among them, team ‘SAY!,’ which consists of students from Yonsei University Mirae Campus of South Korea, won the prize that is given only to the top 10% of the entire entries.

Winners of main awards traditionally walk on the red carpet at the awards ceremony held in Singapore every October, and enjoy the privilege of permanently displaying the winning works at the Red Dot Design Museum. This year's awards ceremony will be held on October 6, and it will be conducted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

Jin-su, In-ho, Min-woo and Se-gye, the Yonsei alumnus and students from the Division of Design and Art of the Mirae Campus, thought of the idea of ‘Capsure’ after being highly impressed by the medical staff's dedication during the pandemic crisis. They first began by brainstorming ways to cooperate with the medical staff as designers. These students who took collective infections in hospital facilities seriously believed that the role of designers in the medical environment is to prevent secondary infections by improving the medical environment and to ensure a comfortable care environment for the medical staff to focus solely on the treatment. Inspired from the design of a coffee machine, ‘Capsure’ is an air clear utilizing capsule filters. It resolved a range of problems existing in current air purifiers such as emission of dust, poor filter replacement process, internal contamination due to dust, poor performance to due extended use of filters.

A team ‘SAY!’ member Han Se-gye commented, "We are highly grateful that the design team SAY! is recognized for its capabilities after winning at the Red Dot Design Awards, the world's top three design awards, following the winning of Platinum prize at the Spark Design Awards last year." He added, "the curriculum of the Division of Art and Design of the Mirae Campus has played a major role in the design process, as it has challenged students to debate on the purpose of design and to expand their imagination."

The design team ‘SAY!,’ the winners of the Red Dot Design Awards, was founded in 2012 by students from the Division of Design and Art of the Mirae Campus whose purpose lies in nurturing abilities in pan-design values, cultures, and stories under the slogan of "Summon All Your Imagination." Team SAY! has won more than 30 international awards, including the world's top three design awards, iF, IDEA and Red Dot, and has been recognized worldwide, with winning three 'Best of the Best' awards which are given to less than 1% of entries at the Red Dot Design Awards.
