Yonsei University promotes the excellence of its management education by creating a Korean MBA model with global standar

The Global MBA program at Yonsei Graduate School of Business was ranked 81st in the world’s top 100 full-time MBA programs in 2021 by The Economist, a global business magazine.

The Yonsei Global MBA is the only Korean program in the list, where only nine universities in Asia are ranked. IESE of Spain ranked first, followed by HEC Paris, Michigan University and New York University MBA courses.

The Economist’s ranking criteria included △open new career opportunities △personal development and educational experience △salary △potential to network. Our university’s program was ranked 32nd in terms of the percentage of job-seeking graduates with job offer 3 months after graduation and 56th for networking opportunities with alumni and educational experience.

The Yonsei Global MBA program is a full-time MBA program that is fully conducted in English for 1 year and 6 months. Under its motto of “Learn Business the Global Way, Lead Business the Asia Way,” the curriculum is organized in accordance with global standards and educational content related to Asia has been strengthened. In particular, the program has been trying to improve students’ ability to solve real management problems by encouraging them to participate in regular overseas industry experience courses and global business case contests.

The Yonsei Global MBA strives to reinforce the diversity of its programs by selecting more than 60% of new students from 15 countries or more and maintain a high ratio of female students in order to cultivate creative minds suitable for the era of sustainability. Furthermore, the program includes community service hours as part of graduation requirements so that students can grow as servant leaders.

The Global MBA students can receive professional career development coaching lessons through the Career Development Center (CDC). Upon admission, the CDC provides systematic career development programs such as 1:1 coaching, career workshops, and career development related subjects. In particular, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, they invited external HR experts and career development consultants to provide online and offline career development coaching and counseling programs to support students.

“Our Global MBA program was the first English-only degree program launched in Korea in 1998. It established a Korean MBA model with global standards to promote the excellence of Yonsei management education,” said Kil-Soo Suh, Dean of School of Business. “We will continue to perform our duty to cultivate talents of various nationalities who will lead the global industry in line with our full-time and part-time MBA programs, which are the only Korean programs to rank among the world’s top 100 MBA programs by The Economist and The Financial Times respectively.”

To strengthen global education, the Global MBA program operates a dual degree program with Washington University in the United States and Peking University in China. Starting this year, in particular, Yonsei University newly established a dual degree course with the Illinois Institute of Technology Stuart School of Business, which is well-known for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. In addition to the Yonsei MBA degree, the university allows students to acquire a master’s degree in marketing analytics, sustainable management and environmental management or finance at the same time by introducing a two-year multi-degree course.
