Profs. Min Song and Mooweon Rhee selected for 2020 Humanities and Social Sciences Excellent Scholars Program
Yonsei University professors Min Song (Library & Information Science) and Mooweon Rhee (Management) have been selected for the highly-coveted 2020 Humanities and Social Sciences Excellent Scholars Program by the National Research Foundation on September 2, 2020.
The prestigious Humanities and Social Sciences Excellent Scholars Program supports renowned scholars in the humanities and social sciences fields with world-class research capacity to represent the nation by promoting their long-term, in-depth research projects and papers. Awarding support funds totaling 250 million won (about 215,000 USD) during five years to the selected academic individuals, it is the largest national program in the humanities field. Seven researchers were chosen this year, among which two were Yonsei professors.
Prof. Min Song, Department of Library & Information ScienceFor his project, “Research on entitymetrics-driven multi-disciplinary knowledge convergence,” Professor Min Song (Library & Information Science) plans to establish the field of social entitymetrics and then conduct research on detecting emerging issues and investigating the knowledge structure of research domains based on entitymetrics. He will then attempt to re-establish the extended concept of entitymetrics and plan to publish the scholarly monograph of the newly extended field. It is expected that Professor Song's research will contribute to the advancement of multi-disciplinary convergence research and foster rigorous follow-up study from various domains by expanding the field of entitymetrics.
Prof. Mooweon Rhee, Management Division, Yonsei School of BusinessProfessor Mooweon Rhee (Management) will conduct a project on “The Leader’s Misconception: Why doesn’t the organization learn from experience?” In the wake of the civilizational transformation period triggered by the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the coronavirus (COVID-19), Professor Lee plans to introduce a new form of analytical leadership based on systemic thinking that can successfully carry out the era’s two tasks of innovation and inclusion. The project is expected to contribute to the promotion and activation of knowledge in various research fields, and in particular, attempt multidimensional analysis at the level of cognitive systems, organizational systems, and market systems that can ultimately activate communication between micro and macro research.
