New partners to cooperate in building a cloud-based online educational platform
Yonsei University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Naver Business Platform (NBP), the cloud affiliate of Korea’s leading internet portal operator Naver, to cooperate in building a cloud-based online educational platform and developing joint business projects.
Yonsei University plans to launch a virtual education platform called Y-EdNet based on IT technical support from Naver and cloud services from NBP to advance into the global education market. In addition, Naver will cooperate in producing and promoting online educational content for Yonsei University to help expand its initial platform.
Under the agreement, the two institutions also plan to collaborate in developing joint businesses using artificial intelligence (AI) technology based on the big data for education and Korean speech processing generated via Y-EdNet.
“Yonsei will actively respond to the rapid digitalization of the educational environment in the wake of COVID-19, hoping to turn crisis into an opportunity for innovation in higher education,” said President Suh Seoung Hwan of Yonsei University during the MOU signing ceremony. “We are thrilled to collaborate with Naver to build a platform that supports Blended Learning (BLENDING) Classes, a hybrid of online and offline classes, with the experience and know-how of Naver Business Platform."

"Through this MOU, we will actively collaborate by providing various cloud-based AI technologies to help Yonsei lead the global education market.”
