To continue its mission of educating the future leaders of society, Yonsei University established its newest college, Global Leaders College (GLC), on September 1, 2018. Currently headed by Dean Yong-soo Cho, GLC is the officially elevated college of the former Global Leadership Division within the University.

Originally founded in 2015 as the Global Leadership Division, the aim of the Global Leaders College is to provide the world's first Korean language-based premium curriculum for international and overseas Korean students. GLC currently offers three majors: International Commerce, Korean Language and Culture Education, and Culture and Media. Starting in March 2015 with an enrollment of 110 students, currently 660 students from 30 countries are pursuing their studies at GLC. With the elevation of GLC as the 19th college of Yonsei University, the first graduates of the Global Leadership Division within GLC are expected to graduate in February 2019.

Global Leaders College aims to strengthen the academic capacity of international and overseas students and fulfill the educational needs of each student by offering a ‘self-designed major.’ Its education and guidance system of support programs include 1:1 writing guidance with professional advisors, freshmen pre-university courses, and freshmen orientation.

In 2019, Global Leaders College plans to launch the Global Basic Education Division (GBED) to provide basic educational skills for international students studying at Yonsei University. All international students who have been admitted to the various departments of the university (excluding medicine, dentistry, nursing, music, physical arts, and Underwood International College majors) will be expected to complete Korean language and basic education courses at GBED during their first year. After that, they will continue their studies at their respective departments.

"Global Leaders College will do its utmost to advance its international programs and respond to the academic needs of the international students at Yonsei University,” said Dean Cho. “We look forward to the continued support of the entire Yonsei community in this endeavor.”
