Notice on Application for Joint Major for Fall 2022 2022.06.08

1. Application Period: June 22, 2022 (Wed) 9:00 - June 28 (Tue) 17:00


2. Application Method

     A. Log in the Yonsei Portal System (http://portal.yonsei.ac.kr/)

     B. Academic Management System - Major - Joint Major - choose the major you want to apply for.

     C. Write the academic plan (motivation, plan) and save.

※ Write about 500 to 2000 characters (Korean) for each item (motivation, plan).

※ If you cancel after applying, the contents written on the form will be deleted.

※ Please check the name of the major (department) you are applying for.

4. Joint Majors

     Korean Studies, Chinese Studies, Japanese Studies, East Asian Studies, European Studies, American Studies,

     Digital Humanities, Foreign Affairs and Trade Studies, Cognitive Science, Venture Studies, Leadership,

     Comparative Literature, Cultural Theory and Criticism


5. Requirement for Application

     A. Students who have been approved for the first major (including students on leave)

     B. Students who entered since 1996; can apply after the third semester to the last semester before graduation

          (graduation/completion applicants cannot apply.)

     C. You cannot complete multiple joint majors. If you want to change an approved joint major,
          you must submit a cancelation request before the application period for the joint major to re-apply.

     D. A canceled major cannot be re-applied.
         (The final cancelation period for joint majors is until the last semester before graduation.)

     E. Students who transferred, double majoring graduation candidates, and students who entered before 1996 

         cannot apply.


6. Criteria for Approval

     A. Evaluating by grades (average of the all semesters) and academic plans.

     B. If a third-year general transfer student applies for the first semester (attending the fifth semester),

         the grades from the first semester will be counted.


7. Notes

     A. Students who are approved for a joint major must meet the requirements for completion of the major
          to graduate (or complete).

     B. Students who are approved for a joint major cannot apply (select) for a third major.

     C. If you wish to cancel a joint major, you must submit the "joint major cancellation" to the Academic Support 

        Team with the seal of the professor in charge of the joint major.
        (Cancellation is possible until the last semester before graduation.
