COVID-19 Notice

UPDATE: Yonsei’s Response to Confirmed COVID-19 Case [College of Engineering] 2020.11.19

In response to additional confirmed COVID-19 cases at the College of Engineering, Yonsei University informs the corresponding travel log and measures as follows.


1. In relation to the initial confirmed COVID-19 cases at the College of Engineering announced on Tuesday, November 17, six additional students tested positive for COVID-19. 


2. Confirmed COVID-19 cases at the restaurant in Sinchon

  A. Tuesday, November 17: 4 confirmed cases from restaurant  (already reported)

  B. Wednesday, November 18: 6 new confirmed cases

      - Direct cases from restaurant: 4 students 

      - Secondary infection cases: 2 students 

      - Note: Other students at the restaurant tested negative


3. On-campus travel logs of the six confirmed COVID-19 cases are as follows.

  A. Student #1

     - Friday, November 13 (10:00 am-3:00 pm): Visited Widang Hall (5F)  

     - Monday, November 16 (11:00 am-2:00 pm): Visited Widang Hall (5F)

     - Note: One close contact of Student #1 has tested for COVID-19 and is awaiting the results


  B. Student #2

     - Monday, November 16 (1:00-1:30 pm): Visited Engineering Hall 4 (6F)


  C. Student #3

     - Did not enter the campus since the dinner at the restaurant in Sinchon on Thursday, November 12


  D. Student #4

     - Did not enter the campus since the dinner at the restaurant in Sinchon on Thursday, November 12


  E. Student #5 (Secondary infection case)

     - Friday, November 13 (6:00 pm): Had dinner with an infected student at Hankyeong Hall 

     - Sunday, November 15 (6:00-8:00 pm): Visited Engineering Hall 4 (6F)

     - Note: Expected to have transmitted COVID-19 while having dinner with a confirmed COVID-19 case  


  F. Student #6 (Secondary infection case)

     - Monday, November 16 (2:00-8:00 pm): Visited Engineering Hall 4 (6F)

     - Tuesday, November 17 (1:00 pm): Visited Engineering Hall 4 (6F)

     - Note: Expected to have transmitted COVID-19 while in the same area of a confirmed COVID-19 case     


4. The university closed and disinfected relevant spaces in cooperation with the disease control authorities and is currently conducting all necessary measures, such as checking close contact cases and advising Yonsei members to work from home.   


5. Also, in response to the government's decision to elevate to Social Distancing Level 1.5 and the increasing number of confirmed COVID-19 cases on campus, Yonsei University has announced strengthened measures to all university members (including stricter building entry restriction and temperature-checking measures, converting classes online/non-face-to-face, and guidelines for infection control measures).   


6. University members are advised to pay special attention to preventive measures such as temperature-checking. If you have any COVID-19 symptoms, please get tested at a screening clinic near you.
