Yonsei Law Professor Receives 2020 Reimar Lust Award

Professor Sungsoo Kim of the Yonsei University Law School has been chosen to receive the 2020 Reimar Lüst Award in recognition of his significant contributions to promoting cultural and academic relations between Germany and Korea.


Jointly awarded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, the prestigious award is granted to outstanding humanities scholars and social scientists from abroad who, through their research, have made exceptional contribution to the long-term promotion of bilateral relations between Germany and their home countries. Named after the former President of the Humboldt Foundation in appreciation of his life-long work to promote the international exchange of scientists and scholars, the Reimar Lüst Award was established in 2006 and has been awarded twice a year. 


As part of the award, Professor Kim will receive €60,000 in annual research funding from the Humboldt Foundation. 


With expertise in anti-corruption & civil rights commission and administrative law, Professor Sungoo Kim has served as a researcher at the Constitutional Court of Korea, policy advisor to the Anti-Corruption & Civil Rights Commission, and chairman of the Korea Carbon Law Society.
