Yonsei’s 3-2 soccer victory over Korea University at the Jamsil Sports Complex meant that the 43rd edition of the Yonsei-Korea Friendship Sports Festival (YonKo Games) ended in a 2-2-1 draw. Held September 27-28, Yonsei also secured a 3-1 victory in baseball, while the hockey match ended in a 2-2 tie. In basketball, Yonsei was defeated 75-62, and Korea grinded out a narrow 20-17 win in rugby.
Following its team’s triumph in soccer (the final event of the games), Yonsei students, faculty, and alumni, led by the school’s cheering squad, broke out into rousing cheers, joyful and relieved that Yonsei had ended its streak of four consecutive defeats in the YonKo Games. Overall, Yonsei holds a slight edge in the series with 18 wins, 16 losses, and 9 draws.
