Yonsei Professor Cheong Eun-ji from the Department of Biotechnology has co-authored a review appearing in the July issue of the prestigious journal Physiological Reviews.  Written with Dr. Shin Hee-sup from the Institute of Basic Science in Daejeon, “T-Type Ca2+ Channels in Normal and Abnormal Brain Functions” reviews studies dealing with the role of T-type Ca2+ (transient-type calcium) channels in the physiological and pathological generation of brain rhythms in sleep, absence epilepsy, and pain signal transmission, while briefly discussing recent advances in studies of T-type channels in the control of cognition.  Professor Cheong’s and Dr. Shin’s review has also been included in the online database of Korea’s Biological Research Information Center (BRIC) in the special section “Korean Scholars:  Focused on Excellence.”
