The Yonsei School of Business (YSB) was ranked #61 in the Financial Times (FT) 2013 Executive Education-Customised rankings. YSB, the only Asian institution included in the rankings, has been ranked by the FT for two consecutive years, improving six places from last year. This year, the top three places went to Duke Corporate Education (US / South Africa / UK / India), HEC Paris (France), and IESE Business School (Spain). The Executive Education-Customised rankings measure business schools that offer customized, non-degree programs for corporations and working managers. The rankings are based on a number of criteria: Program Design, Teaching Methods & Materials, Future Use, New skills & Learning, Faculty Diversity, Facilities, Individual Surveys, and Follow-Up. YSB’s highest ranking was for Follow-Up (#31), which measures the scope and effectiveness of the follow-up provided by the institution after its clients and course participants return to the workplace. Professor Park Young-ryul, Dean of the Yonsei School of Business, said: “Along with the top 100 rankings held by both the part-time and full-time Yonsei MBA programs, the high ranking obtained by the YSB customized programs illustrates Yonsei’s strong presence among global business and executive education programs.” YSB achieved its ranking for the customized programs run by its affiliate, the Sangnam Institute of Management (SIM). In 2012, SIM provided 22 customized executive education programs for corporations such as Shinsegae, Kumho Asiana, Dongwon, Samsung Securities, Korea Electric Power Corporation, and KB Kookmin Bank. Founded in 1999, SIM was established with financial support from the honorary chairman of LG, Mr. Koo Cha-kyung. For the past five years, SIM has provided an average of 15 customized programs; and since 2010, the institute has annually coordinated at least 20 programs. Along with the increasing number of participating clients, more than 80% of the corporations that have taken part in SIM customized programs have done so for at least three years. Professor Sohn Sung-kyu, Director of SIM, stated: “The institute’s longtime efforts to organize programs tailored and optimized to each corporation’s culture and needs is likely to have resulted in the increase in the FT rankings. SIM will further strive to promote excellence in global executive education.”
