On May 11, Yonsei alumni returned to the Sinchon campus to celebrate their 25th and 50th class reunions. Amongst blooming spring flowers, the alumni reminisced about their student days at Yonsei, and wearing navy blue berets, they marched down Baekyang-ro from Underwood Hall to the Main Hall, where the official ceremony was held. Upon arriving at the Main Hall, the alumni sang in unison the Yonsei Song. This was followed by a prayer by Cho Dong-cheon (Class of ’84, Theology) and a welcome address by President Jeong Kap-young. Yonsei University Alumni Association Chairman, Park Sam-gu, shared a congratulatory message, while Kim Jeong-gil and Jeong Jong-seop gave speeches, respectively, on behalf of the classes of 1963 and 1988. The alumni were given souvenirs and a special certificate, and they also had an opportunity to catch up with some of their professors. During the second half of the celebrations, alumni were treated to music played by the Yonsei Symphony Orchestra and Orpheus, a demonstration by Yonsei’s Akaraka cheering squad, a performance by “Zoo,” of which Yonseian Park Ki-young (Class of ’84, Political Science) is a member, and an ensemble by graduates of Vocal Music. Following these performances, Lee Sang-hyun (Class of ’88, Medical Science) gave a special talk, and the reunion choir sang. The ceremony concluded with the reunion flag being given to representatives of the classes of 1964 and 1989, which will celebrate their 25th and 50th year reunions next year.
