“May I look up into the heavens until I die Without a bit of shame…” (Seo-si, Prologue) Early morning on February 15. The voices of Yonsei students ring out in the clear sky. The 68th Poet Yun Dong-ju Memorial Day was marked by a reverential atmosphere. After a hymn and a bible reading, students recited poems of Yun Dong-ju to honor his memory. In his speech, Yonsei President Jeong Kap-young remarked: “Poet Yun Dong-ju was a light for the future of his people; he gave hope to his countrymen through his poems. His poetry inspires us to remain true to ourselves and to never lose hope. Today, 68 years after his death, his words still speak movingly to us.” Professor Yun In-seok (Yun’s nephew), Yun Hyung-ju (Yun’s cousin), and many Yonsei officials attended the memorial ceremony. They paid tribute to the poet by laying flowers in front of the Yun Dong-ju Memorial Stone.
