Yonsei Volunteer Service Center Starts Prostu Program On December 14th, Yonsei Volunteer Service Center organized a program consisting of students of Sinyeon Middle School and Yonsei University, and a professor of Graduate School of Social Welfare of Yonsei. The 5 mentees, 5 mentors and professor Lee Won-jun (Chairman of Baek-Am Foundation) had a meaningful time together. The Prostu Program, established by Yonsei Volunteer Service Center, aims to help students in trouble, such as victims of school violence. It is a mentoring program with professors and Yonsei students volunteering as mentors. Kim Han-seong, a Yonsei student participating as a mentor, said that, “I got involved in the program because I felt I could help, but I have gained much more than what I have to share and give. I hope to help my mentee for as long as I can.” Lee Won-jun, Chairman of Baek-Am Foundation, said that, “Starting a welfare foundation, I wished for a mentoring program that was truly about sharing. I hope that through the Prostu Program, mentor-students can cherish the experience of sharing, and that mentee-students perform better academically at school. The meeting today has given me the opportunity to not simply be a supporter of the program, but see for myself how mentees and mentors interact and get along. It has been my pleasure.” Yonsei Volunteer Service Center plans to continue its efforts to help teenagers dream bigger and prepare them for a better future through specialized and systematic mentoring programs.
