[YONSEI NEWS] The 20th Korean Language Writing Contest for Foreigners

On October 7th, Yonsei Korean Language Institute (KLI) held the 20th Korean Language Writing Contest for Foreigners. Since 1992, Yonsei KLI has organized the contest to honor the birth of the Korean Language. This year, a total of 1,680 foreigners and overseas Koreans from over 73 countries, including those from the Yonsei Language Institute in the U.S. and from the DLI (Defense Language Institute) participated and competed against each other in the event. The themes for poetry and essay writing were “wind” and “song”, respectively. The winner in the poetry section was Wang Ning (China, Yonsei University), and the winner in essay writing was Hoshino Yuko (Japan, Seoul National University). For their artistic effort, both winners were conferred with 700,000 KRW and a trophy. Other awards and prizes were presented to 66 participants as well.
