2010 Yonsei-Keio-Rikkyo-Fudan Leadership Forum Student delegation from the Yonsei-Keio-Rikkyo-Fudan Leadership Forum (Yonsei Leadership Center) attended the 2010 YKRF Leadership Forum hosted by Japan’s Keio University (Hiyoshi Campus), during August 16~21. They participated in lively discussions and various cultural exchange activities with other student delegates from Korea, China, and Japan. This year’s theme was “Asians as Global Leaders: Cooperating in the Region, Changing the World.” In-depth and wide-ranging lectures were delivered at the forum; Professor Yoshihide Soeya and Professor Kukunari Kimura lectured on political science and economics, and the U.S. ambassador to Japan James P. Zumwalt presented a speech on American role in northeast Asian security. The lectures were followed by students’ group discussions and presentations on each of the three topics. Participating students actively exchanged their opinions and endeavored to acquire an objective understanding of the convoluted history of the national interests of – as well as the conflicts among – Korea, China, and Japan. On the last day of the forum, President Atsushi Seike of Keio University expressed that “the YKRF Leadership Forum will continue to develop as the place in which Korean, Chinese, and Japanese college students can freely meet and interact with each other, and that the participants will in the future become leaders who contribute to the harmony and union of the northeast Asian region.” At the culture talent show following the closing ceremony, students performed traditional and modern songs and dances from their countries. YKRF Leadership forum is hosted by different countries each year to discuss issues regarding politics, culture and economy in northeast Asia. In 2002 Yonsei University and Keio University joined and in 2006 Fudan University joined as well.
