40th Annual Yonsei-Korea Games: Yonsei triumphs, 3 wins, 1 tie and 1 loss Despite the harsh downpour and severe weather, Yonsei triumphed over Korea University at the 40th Annual Yonsei-Korea University Games held on September 10th and 11th at Jamsil, Mok-dong, and Goyang. Yonsei University was victorious with 3 wins, one tie, and one loss. This is Yonsei’s 18th win over Korea University in their joint history of Yon-Ko Games (Yonsei holds 18 wins, 8 ties, and 14 losses). Yonsei University was superior from day one of the games, grabbing victories in the ice hockey and basketball matches. At the Jamsil Student Sports Center, the Yonsei basketball team beat Korea University after a fierce match to a 74-65 victory. This was Yonsei’s second consecutive win. At the Goyang ice rink, Yonsei continued its unbroken victory march of 13 years since 1998 and beat Korea University 8-1. In Baseball, Yonsei tied to Korea University 4-4. The next day, on the 11th, despite the heavy downpour and foul weather, Yonsei beat Korea 38-20 in Rugby. However, sadly, Yonsei lost to Korea 3-1 in soccer, which was the only loss. Many students came to see the Yon-Go Games. There were exciting events such as “Dine with a Celebrity” raffle where the students were given the opportunity to share a meal with a celebrity. All the proceeds from the raffle (5000 won per ticket) will go to scholarship funds. After the closing ceremony, over 2000 alumni and students gathered to celebrate. Popular singers missA and Psy performed as well. Furthermore, there were charity events such as Yonsei-Korea University Blood Drive and Jeans Bazar, in addition to the “Dine with an Alumnus” event.
