The 124th Anniversary Commemoration ceremony was held on 9 May in the Auditorium. Several honored guests attended, including Bang Woo-young, president of Yonsei Foundation, and Kim Han-Joong, President of Yonsei University. The ceremony also was the occasion of granting Yonsei Academic Achievement Award. Some 4 professors were honored for their academic excellence this year. Professor Jang Yong-sung (Department of Economics) for publishing “Heterogeneity and Aggregation: Implications for Labor-Market Fluctuations” in American Economic Review, Professor Kim Woo-taek (Department of Biology) for “Arabidopsis PUB22 and PUB23 Are Homologous U-Box E3 Ubiquitin Ligases That Play Combinatory Roles in Responses to Drought Stress” in The Plant Cell, Professor Lee Kang-yong (Department of Mechanical Engineering) for “Development of Empirical Equations for Fretting-Corrosion Failure-Time of Tin-Plated Contacts” in Wear, and Professor Kim Seong-jae (College of Medicine) for “Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction with Use of a Single or Double-Bundle Technique in Patients with Generalized Ligamentous Laxity” in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery. There was also a homecoming event for alumni in the Centennial Hall.
