Patrick Musióka (21, Business Administration), who managed the event and gave a presentation on Kenya, had an interview with Yonsei Newsletter. "It takes a month to prepare this event,” he said. “We, African students hang out among ourselves very intimately and try to help one another”. Also he added, "Today’s food is not from Kenya. They are West African food. African food has softer flavors than Korean one. The female students from Congo and Gabon had prepared today’s food." He came to Korea in June last year. He is currently staying on scholarship from the Korean government. He is the only student from Kenya on Yonsei Campus. "I have two Kenyan friends in Korea University. I meet them at least every two weeks. When we came to Korea, we had five college choices. First, we took a test (KLPT), and then were assigned to the universities according to the results." He is now taking 6 credits on campus and Korean language courses at KLI (Korean Language Institute). His Korean is currently at Level 3. “This semester, one class is conducted in Korean and the other one in English,” he explained. “Classes are not different from Kenyan ones. But courses have access to a variety of informational sources from the library and Web. This is a good advantage." He is now quite used to his life in Seoul. He is currently residing at the International House. Because the International House does not provide food, he usually dines at the New Millennium Hall. His favorite menu is Je-Yook-Bokk-Um (rice with meat and vegetable). "I really like Yonsei campus and Korea,” he remarked. “I have adapted myself to lots of things. I enjoy playing Starcraft at Sinchon with friends on weekend. I am also used to the weather but Korean winter is really cold.” “I will visit my parents in December this year fleeing from cold," he said with a smile.
