Published as Cover Paper for Angewandte Chemie and Highlighted in Nature Asia Materials A paper researched by Professor Oh Moon-hyun’s team was selected as a cover paper for February issue of Angewandte Chemie International Edition(Volume 48 Issue 8, pages 1459-1462) which has more than 10 impact factors (IF). Published with a title "Self-Template-Directed Formation of Coordination-Polymer Hexagonal Tubes and Rings, and their Calcination to ZnO Rings" in Angewandte Chemie International, the paper examines the mechanism of formation of coordination polymer, and synthesized hexagonal tubes and rings using acquired information from the study. The synthesized particles are radiant within broad spectrum, and expected to have practical application such as optics and sensing material. It is also possible to produce metal oxide nano ring and nano tube from the synthesized coordination polymers. The research is expected to be a foundational study in controlling chemical and physical properties of particles since understanding of the mechanism of particle formation is crucial in controlling the shapes and sizes of particles. Since anomalous properties of particles with nano/micro size depend on their sizes and shapes, it is thus required to have a technology to control not only the formation but also their size and shape. The team’s other paper, "Metal oxides: Coordinated nuts and bolts" was also published as a research highlight on an online edition of Nature Asia Materials on 19 February.
