Awarded 2008 Science and Technology Creativity Award Yonsei University was awarded the 2008 Science and Technology Creativity Award. It was the only university to be honored with the award. The Science and Technology Creativity Award recognizes leaders in national science and technology development by implementing creative ideas. It aims to encourage creativity in all areas related to science and technology and recognizes four institutions each year. This year, the award recipients were Yonsei University, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, the Korea Atomic Research Institute, and the Korea Basic Science Institute. Yonsei University and the Korea Basic Science Institute were awarded the Minister of Education, Science, and Technology award (10 million won), the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute was awarded the Presidential Award (100 million won), and the Korea Atomic Research Institute received the Prime Minister Award (50 million won). Innovative Interdisciplinary Efforts and Research Personnel in Medical Life Science The Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology introduced Yonsei as “an institution that has reached new heights in medical life science by supporting innovative interdisciplinary efforts and producing highly qualified research personnel”. Yonsei’s establishment of the College of Life Science and Biotechnology, which consists of the departments of Biology, Biochemistry, and Biotechnology, was also recognized.
