The Yonsei School of Business was accredited by AACSB-International, an international business education accreditation agency. The AASCB Peer Review Team, including Dean Thomas G. Gutteridge of the University of Toledo, Dean Yar M. Ebadi of Kansas State University, and Dean David Saunders of Queen’s University visited Yonsei on November 10-11 and conducted a rigorous survey. Yonsei met all criteria and received the official accreditation results on December 18. Yonsei was accredited for all degree programs at the School of Business, including, the BA, MS, Ph.D., full-time MBA, and part-time MBA. This shows that the School is up to standard in all areas. Also, this accreditation is more meaningful in that it was achieved after the adoption of the Assurance of Learning (AOL) system. The Yonsei College of Business is the first in Korea to adopt the AOL system. AACSB-International is a consortium of over 1,100 universities worldwide and gives accreditation to universities that pass its rigorous standards. Only five percent of universities worldwide have passed the AACSB accreditation. The Peer Review Team commented that not only did Yonsei meet all of the AACSB requirements, but showed strong points such as the Creative Leadership program that programs worldwide should emulate. The business-academy cooperation courses where top Korean CEOs participate in the curriculum, the uGET global immersion program where students are able to greatly enhance global expertise, and the creative leadership mileage program which showcases the three priorities of the Yonsei School of Business were especially praised. Also, the team was impressed by the active support and mentoring of alumni, as well as by the quality of the students, saying that they were “brilliant and excellent students” who stood out among the other students they had met worldwide. The AACSB accreditation, following the accreditation from the KABEA (Korean Association of Business Education Accrediation), made Yonsei the only Korean university to be accredited by both institutions. The Yonsei School of Business shows promise to become not only the best in Korea but one of the top institutions in the world.
