[YONSEI NEWS] 2004 Nobel Economics Award Recipient Kydland Lectures at Yonsei

The 2004 Nobel Economics Award recipient Finn E. Kydland will come to Yonsei as a chair professor in the Economics Division of the College of Business and Economics. Currently a professor at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Professor Kydland was appointed as the SK-Yonsei Economics Chair Professor for the Spring 2009 semester. An economics scholar from Norway, Professor Kydland was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2004 with Professor Edward Prescott for his work in macroeconomics. He discovered the Real Business Cycle Theory and raised important questions about the Dynamic Time Inconsistency Problem in currency finance. At Yonsei, Professor Kydland will teach a graduate course, “Topics in Dynamic Economics”. The course will include a seminar section on Dynamic Macroeconomics and will be conducted with Underwood Professor Chang Yongsung. In addition to the graduate lecture, he will give two special lectures for undergraduates and the public. 2007 Nobel Laureate Eric Maskin Also Expected to Teach at Yonsei The Economics Division plans to continue to invite prior or likely Nobel Laureates as SK Chair Professors. In Fall 2009, Professor Eric Maskin will be coming to Yonsei. In 2008, Professors Drew Fudenberg of Harvard and Peter Schmidt of Michigan State University held the position.
