Steamson Hall is a two-story Gothic-style building built in the early 1920s by the Yonhi College, the predecessor of Yonsei University. Dr. H. G. Underwood, a Presbyterian missionary who was one of the founding fathers of Yonhi College, named this building after Charles S. M. Steamson, whose donation made the construction of the building possible. The widow of Dr. Underwood was invited to lay the cornerstone by the principal, Dr. O. R. Avision, and the construction was supervised by chemistry professor Dr. E. H. Miller. The architect is unknown, but American architects visited Korea to design and plan the building. The main material was the mica slate found in nearby mountains and granite was used for accents. The style of the building is Gothic with a Tudor-style arch entrance, and the building has been designated as Historical Site 275.
