Yonsei Parent College Welcomes First Participants Useful Education and Information About Students Provided The Office of External Affairs and Development has opened the “Yonsei Parent College” in order to utilize the University’s resources to enhance the quality of life of the parents of Yonsei students and create a strong bond between parents and the university. Former Minister of Education Yoon Hyung-Sup, Former University President Song Ja to Teach at Parent College Professor Emeritus Yoon Bang-Boo Gives First Lecture Lectures of the Parent College will be held on the second, third, and fourth Tuesday of every month from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The subject of the lectures will range from health, well-being, education, legal issues, counseling, economics, and investment. The lecturers will include prominent figures from both inside and outside the Yonsei community, including former Minister of Education Yoon Hyung-Sup and former University President Song Ja. “ For the first lecture, Emeritus Professor Yoon Bang-Boo of the Yonsei College of Medicine, who was the first doctor to introduce the concept of Family Medicine to Korea, spoke on “Health Management Today”. Professor Yoon advised the parents not to be enticed by various reports on what to eat and do to be healthy. “We must take health and longevity to the next level, of quality, not mere quantity. True longevity is not just living a long life, but eating well, loving well, and joyfully living a full life.” Seo San-shim, a student at the Parent College shared her enthusiasm about the college. “In addition to my son’s entering this prestigious university, I also have been given a chance to enhance my life. I have high hopes for the Parent College, because I will be able to learn from the best professors in Korea and also meet other parents and share information.” It takes Ms. Seo eight hours on the road to participate in the Parent College because she lives four hours away. However, the long distance is not discouraging Ms. Seo and other participants who are coming from various parts of the country.
