[YONSEI NEWS] Yonsei Chamber Players Debut Concert

World-Class Chamber Music on Campus A free concert held in Yonsei University’s Main Auditorium on March 24 signaled the successful debut of the Yonsei Chamber Players, which consists members of the faculty in Yonsei’s College of Music who are also world-renowned musicians. Members include violinists Kang Dong-seok and Kim Hyuna, violists Kim Sang-jin and Reiner Mok, cellists Yang Seong-won and Jo Young-chang. Pianists Lee Kyung-sook and Kim Young-ho provide the accompaniment to the Yonsei Chamber Players. An enthusiastic audience greeted Reiner Mok (va.) and Kim Yong-ho (pn.), who kicked off the debut concert with Reinecke’s fantasy pieces for viola and piano. Mok and Kim were followed by a performance of Mendelssohn’s Trio by Kim Hyuna (vn.), Jo Young-chang (vc.) and Lee Kyung-sook (pn.). The night reached its climax with a captivating performance of Dvořák’s well-known piano quintet by Kang Dong-seok (vn.), Kim Hyuna (vn.), Kim Sang-jin (va.), Yang Seong-won (vc.), and Kim Young-ho (pn.). Through this concert, the Yonsei University College of Music was able to reaffirm its leading status in the world of chamber music. Pianist Lee Kyung-sook, Dean of the College of Music, said that “The Yonsei Chamber Players are the first chamber music team in Korea that consists of professors. I am very happy that the Yonsei community will now be able to enjoy world-class performances on campus.”
