A world renowned French research institute where eight Nobel Prize winners were produced Yonsei and the Korean branch of French Pasteur Research Institute, ‘Institut Pasteur Korea (IPK)’ joined a comprehensive collaboration agreement with regard to education and research on December 18. The France-based Institut Pasteur is one of the well known research institutes, where eight Nobel Prize winners were produced since its foundation in 1887. Institut Pasteur Korea (IPK) is the Korean branch of Institut Pasteur established by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2004 as a non-profit research institute and has been doing researches from basic research to development. Yonsei and IPK expect that this agreement will provide a successful model for drug discovery and development by the sharing of the drug discovery platforms using cell imaging technique owned by IPK and Yonsei’s life sciences, biotechnology, and translational research area. The two research institutes will manage a joint graduate school program and educate the researchers in English. Also, there will be a joint research project sharing the platform technology of each side for discovery and development of the product of life science and biotechnology. The agreement will be a new role model for the academic-research joint program through the exchange of human resource and commercialization of research outcomes.
