GSIS(The Graduate School of International Studies)

The GSIS was founded in 1987 as the first professional school dedicated solely to international studies in Korea with all courses taught in English for Korean and international students. The founding motivation of Yonsei GSIS was to meet the growing demand for international experts in the nexus between the political, economic, and cultural worlds. Yonsei GSIS has paved the way for Korea’s accelerating globalization by educating, training, and mentoring leaders for the 21st century. Korea’s and Asia’s remarkable transformation over the past three decades attests to the opportunities and challenges that have one abiding theme: the need to think and act globally while recognizing the resilience of traditional values and cultures. As the pioneering institution of its kind in Korea, Yonsei GSIS seeks to become one of the top professional schools in the field of international studies in the Asia-Pacific region and is well underway in achieving this goal. G.I.T(Global Institute of Theology)

The Global Institute of Theology (GIT) is a Graduate School of Theology program based at the International Campus in Songdo. Offering high-quality theological education to international students from all over the world, especially concentrating on the students from Asia and Africa where the graduate leave of theological education is limited. GIT‘s missional vision is to cultivate a new generation of Christian missionaries and theological leaders to serve the world in this critical transition era from Euro-American centered Christianity to World Christianity that non-Euro-American (Global South) Christians become its majority.

GIT was originally iniciated from the final resolution of the World Council of Churches (WCC), Busan in 2013, and has nargurated with the joint supports with Korean churches, Yonsei University (The United Graduate School of Theology), and Internaltional christian organizations in March of 2015. This program is exclusively composed of international students, and each student receives a full scholarship along with room and board. The Korean/World church communities support the full tuition fees, while Yonsei supports their room and board in the spirit of Church/School missional cooperation. The degrees conferred to GIT students include Master of Theology (Th.M) and Doctor of Theology (Th.D). Currently, the program has 35 students from 14 different countries.
