Graduate School of Theology Signs MOU
with Princeton Theological Seminary

-Includes Student and Faculty Exchanges and Potential Joint-Degree Program

On January 6, the Yonsei Graduate School of Theology and Princeton Theological Seminary signed an MOU paving the way for student and faculty exchanges, shared library services, and, potentially, a joint-degree program. The Princeton Theological Seminary has a long and distinguished history; a number of Korean religious leaders, such as Han Kyoung-jik, Han Tae-don, and Kwak Sun-hee have studied there.

Princeton Theological Seminary Dean Craig Barnes visited the Yonsei Campus to finalize the agreement. In his remarks, Dean Barnes said: “Princeton Theological Seminary has been like a lonely fortress on top of a high mountain for too long. In our efforts to initiate communication and interaction with churches and theology studies in Asia, it is an honor to enter into this joint agreement with the Yonsei University Graduate School of Theology.”

As a result of MOU, each year, three Yonsei doctoral students will be able to attend the Princeton Theology Seminary for a full year to conduct dissertation research; one of these students will also receive a full scholarship. At the same time, at least one Princeton professor will be invited annually to teach in the Global Institute of Theology (GIT) at the international campus in Songdo. Going forward, Yonsei and Princeton will continue talks regarding the creation of a joint master’s degree program that would allow students to study at and earn degrees from each university. Representatives from both sides also agreed to collaborate in the advancement and promotion of theological study in Asia.
