2015 Asian Digital Library Conference

- Theme of “Digital Age Information Sharing and Management”

From December 9 to 12, the 2015 Asian Digital Library Conference was held on the Sinchon Campus in New Millennium Hall and Centennial Hall. This year, the conference’s theme was “Digital Age Information Sharing and Management,” and it welcomed participants from throughout the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. The conference was jointly sponsored by the Yonsei Department of Library Science and Information Science and the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST). Yonsei Graduate School Dean Moon Sung-bin and Professor Robert Allen served as directors.

On December 10, Dr. Ross Wilkinson, CEO of Australia National Data Service, gave the keynote address, which was entitled “The Worth of High Tech Digital Data Library.” Over the course of four days, there were more than three dozen papers presented, along with roundtable discussions, workshops, and a special consortium for doctoral students. These events gave the participants multiple opportunities to network and discuss the future of information technology studies. The conference committee presented its Best Article Award to Professor Kun Lu from the University of Oklahoma, while Best Student Article went to Job Maina from the University of Cape Town in South Africa.

The very first Asian Digital Library Conference was held in 1998 in Hong Kong; the 2016 conference will be hosted by the University of Tsukuba in Japan.
