Chung Song House Organizes “Learning Is Happiness” Camp for Incheon-Area Students

On November 15, more than one-hundred elementary school students from the Incheon Metropolitan Area visited the Yonsei International Campus (YIC) in Songdo to take part in the “Learning is Happiness” Camp. The camp was organized as part of the Residential College (RC) curriculum’s Holistic Education (HE) 1 course, the focus of which is community service. A total of sixty-one YIC freshmen were enrolled in HE 1 last semester; under the supervision and guidance of the Chung Song House’s Residential Master, they organized the camp, which included a mentoring program and syllabus for the elementary school students. 

The elementary school students who participated in the Learning Is Happiness Camp expressed high levels of satisfaction, giving almost perfect marks on the evaluation survey.  One of the young students, Hee Eun-yang, said: “The learning I experienced here was very fun. I was sad that this was only a one-day camp. I want to study hard and become a Yonsei student in the future.” The Yonsei freshmen of Chung Song House who organized the camp were also very pleased with the experience; in particular, they cited the value of serving the community, working as a team, and developing new skills in preparing the event from the ground up.
