Professor Kim Dong-ho’s Research Team Develops High-Efficiency Light-Harvesting Devices

Results Published in NPG Asia Materials

A research team that included Yonsei Chemistry Professor Kim Dong-ho and his graduate student Choi Young-ji has successfully developed more efficient light-harvesting devices by incorporating quantum dots in nanofibers. The results were published July 17 in the online version of NPG Asia Materials, a sister journal of Nature; the title of the article is “Controlling the spatial distribution of quantum dots in nanofiber for light-harvesting devices.”

According to the journal’s research summary section, the importance of the research consists in the discovery of “a way to boost the performance of artificial light harvesters” by evenly packing quantum dots in polymer nanofibers. The work of Professor Kim and his team should have far-reaching applications for the solar energy industry, as well as in next generation display technology and light kinetic treatments.
