Since its opening in November 2002, the Global Lounge has been the most important and popular international student facility on campus in promoting global cultural diversity. The Global Lounge serves as the link between the international community and Yonsei University. With its large exchange network, it is a multi-functional space to foster an international perspective and sense for students and provides various one-stop services to international students. We seek to inspire imaginative and innovative ideas and transform students to become global citizens that are part of our global community.

Facility
Main Area
Our main facility has seven multi-television sets transmitting 10 different foreign broadcastsing channels. The facility has a seating capacity of 150 people.

Discussion/Language Exchange Area
The Global Lounge has an area dedicated to language exchange. Students who wish to learn foreign languages can only communicate to each other in a designated language in these areas.

Flag Wall - Global Life Resource
The Flag Wall displays information on different countries for study abroad and/or travel. Each national flag box contains useful academic and practical information on the country.

Seminar Room
Students may use the seminar room for group study, workshops, lectures or language exchange programs. To use the seminar room, a reservation is required. The seminar room can be reserved twice a week per group for a maximum of three hours each session.

Magazine Library
The Magazine Library provides a collection of dozens of the most popular magazines and international daily newspapers.

Internet Zone
Students can use their PCs through wireless internet connection at the Global Lounge. You may also bring your own notebook and use the wireless Internet connection.

Staff
Our staff is devoted to creating a comfortable environment for visitors of any cultural background. Most of the staff is multilingual and those who speak Korean, Chinese, Japanese or English are available at the Information Desk to assist you. We welcome those who are interested in joining us as part time staff or those who would like to help on a volunteer basis.

Programs

Homestay/Buddy Family Program
These programs are intended to facilitate cultural and language interactions between international students and local Korean families. Through the Homestay Program, you can deeply immerse yourself in the Korean way of life by living with a Korean family at their home. The Buddy Family Program provides similar experiences without having to live with a Korean family at their home.

Global Day
Every month, Global Lounge organizes a variety of cultural events on a selected country for one or two days to provide an opportunity to learn about and enjoy different cultures of the world.

Korea Day
This program is designed for international students to facilitate a deeper understanding of Korean culture and traditions. International students participate in various activities including trips to cultural and historic sites, folk craft workshops, farm stays, temple stays and other events on Korea Day.

Yonsei Global Club Network
Yonsei University boasts over 40 student clubs in specialized fields of activities. International students are encouraged to join Yonsei students in any club activities that suit their interests.

Yonsei Global Lounge Exchange
Participants share thoughts and ideas about specific topics in foreign languages.

Buddy Program
Through this program, international students are paired with Korean Yonsei students to learn more about Korea and share ideas through a personalized relationship with their Korean buddies.

Global Lounge Cinema
Popular Korean movies with English subtitles are screened at the Global Lounge twice a month.

Global Angel
This program offers international students the opportunity to do volunteer community work at orphanages and the children¡¯s ward at Yonsei Severance Hospital.

Korean Cultural Experience
Held once a month, this program offers international students a chance to experience different Korean cultural activities, including calligraphy, traditional Korean dances and Taekwondo.
