Center for Signal Processing Research |
The Center for Signal Processing Research endeavors to produce skilled researchers, maximize research activities and direct results to industrial and practical use. It seeks to foster top quality basic research, acquiring and distributing new technology and internationalization of research activities in digital signal processing technology. Such research is widely used in information communication systems, acoustics, speech signal processing, image signal processing, radar and sonar signal processing.
In playing a pivotal role in digital signal processing related studies, the Center for Signal Processing Research conducts up-to-the minute applications research encompassing such fields as neural networks and artificial intelligence, as well as basic research in digital processing technology, while promoting inter-scholastic, scholastic-research-industry cooperative projects and joint international research. |

Institute for Educational Research |
The Institute for Educational Research was established in 1955 as the first research institute at Yonsei University, which is also the first modern university in Korea. The mission of this institute is to pursue advances in educational theories and enhance educational practices. The Institute for Educational Research now has six research divisions which cover a full spectrum of educational research fields including philosophy and history, curriculum and instructional technology, measurement and evaluation, administration and economics, educational and counseling psychology, sociology and industrial education.
The institute conducts multiple research projects as well as often consulting the government on their educational policy issues, supporting researchers to address educational challenges, especially those arising out of schooling system and of industries. It has academic exchange and cooperation programs with the Institute of Education at the University of Tsukuba in Japan since 1997. The institute offers various seminars and workshops every semester for our research faculties to enhance their research practices. It also opens conferences and publishes a scholarly journal, the Yonsei Review of Educational Research every year. |

Institute of Millennium Environmental Design and Research |
The Institute was established in 2001 to study the theories about the future environment, to lead environmental projects, to create more enhanced environment, and to set up a useful infrastructure to utilize knowledge gained through research. In 2000, 6400 people from 49 countries participated in the Yonsei-sponsored "International Contest for New Millenimum Construction & Environmental Design," which was an ambitious project aimed at setting the direction of the environmental design in Korea. The need for interdisciplinary approaches birthed from this contest, resulted in the formation of the College Consortium where people from various majors in 11 colleges now perform joint research. |

The Institute will help Yonsei realize its vision of becoming one of the world's top 100 universities by elevating Yonsei through state-of-the art space technologies. The Institute will set up a foundation to assume the leadership in the national mid-long term space project (costing a total of 5 trillion won) and to receive bulky orders from interdisciplinary project sponsors. The Institute will set up a training center to train a pool of about 400 space related personnel required for the national mid-long term space project. |
