Introduction

Main function of industrial design is to create beautiful products securing usability and performance. The emphasis of the future man-made world is shifting from productivity to creativity. In such a world, there is no limit to the fields where industrial designers can make a contribution. Industrial design is now positioning itself in the center of this creative effort, where arguably the most wealth and talent is developing. In the department of industrial design at Yonsei University, we are concentrating upon the creative possibilities clustered around the production of sophisticated products and use of space: medical instruments, mobile and communication devices, furniture, appliances, vehicles, space and interior architecture, and electronic media, such as gaming design and virtual imaging. Industrial design students are equipped with a range of core research skills and adaptive creative approaches. They are ensured to develop high level skills in the current practices and technologies that are employed in design professions. Our academic staff maintain creative practices and currency in their respective fields, especially corporative work within the medical instrument industries. In addition, various design professionals are also actively involved with the university, contributing key specialist lectures, and supporting final year student exhibitions.

Visual communication Design conducts communication fields for human such as information, culture, business, and goods through the connection of digital technology as well as cultural art on the basis of sensibility centering around visual and logical thinking. Visual communication design aims to cultivate creative talent for each fields of visual information, editorial, interactive media, moving image, and digital contents.

Freshmen learn liberal arts, basic design practice, theory of design, and computer skill looking for the major. Sophomore study principles of visual communication design such as typography, editorial design, illustration, multimedia. Junior and Senior are on the course for experimental and practical studio focused on graphic design, interactive media, advertising, package, information design. This course nurtures design professionals through projects collaborating with design industry and international exchange.
