The Graduate School of Education was established in 1967 to cultivate educational leaders, to provide bachelor's degree holders with a teaching certificate, and to re-educate experienced teachers of all levels. The graduate school has produced over 7,000 alumni involved in various fields related to education. Today, the student body of the Graduate School of Education is almost 1,000 students. For the Master of Education degree programs, classes are offered in the evenings in order to accommodate teachers and other educational leaders that maintain full-time jobs.

The Graduate School of Education trains new and experienced teachers at all levels in 20 major fields: (1) Educational Management and Lifelong Education, (2) Korean Language Education, (3) English Language Education, (4) Library Science Education, (5) Religious Education, (6) Integrated Social Studies Education, (7) Mathematics Education, (8) General Science Education, (9) Music Education, (10) Nursing Education, (11) Industrial Education, (12) Ethics Education, (13) Sports and Leisure Education, (14) Education of Korean Language as a Foreign Language, (15) Counseling Education, (16) Computer Education, (17) Early Childhood Education, (18) Environmental Education, (19) English Education for Children, (20) Educational Technology.

For admission to the Master of Education programs and the non-degree certificate programs, an applicant should have a bachelor's degree or its equivalent and pass the entrance examination.

The requirements for the Master's degree are as follows:
1) A minimum of two and a half years (five semesters) of residence.
2) Completion of a minimum of 30 credits with B average or above.
3) Successful completion of the comprehensive examination.
4) Successful completion of the language examination.
5) Submission of an acceptable thesis.

A teacher's certificate is given to those who have successfully completed a graduate program and met all specified requirements.
